Title: Grillades

From: Tony’s Seafood Market and Deli


* 1 round steak
* Salt and pepper to taste
* 3 Tbsp. flour
* 3 Tbsp. shortening or oil
* 1 large onion chopped
* 2 tomatoes, chopped
* 1 1/2 to 2 cups water
* 1/2 tsp. vinegar


1. Pound steak well and cut into 4″ strips
2. Salt and pepper steak well and dust lightly with flour
3. Brown in oil and set aside
4. In the same skillet, make a roux of flour and oil
5. Add chopped onion, tomaotes, water and vinegar.
6. Place browned steak on top
7. Cover and simmer slowly for 45 minutes to 1 hour
8. Serves 4, with grits
